Fundraising Internship at INCOMINDIOS

INCOMINDIOS is a human rights organization that supports indigenous peoples in their struggle for political, religious, and cultural self-determination. INCOMINDIOS has ECOSOC consultative status at the UN and is regularly represented at conferences. INCOMINDIOS is an association and works mainly with volunteer employees who handle specific topics, as well as performing public relations work in the regions.  To complement the team in Zürich, INCOMINDIOS is looking for a Fundraising Intern Work location: Incomindios office in Zürich, home office temporarily possible Workload: 40 % Start date and duration: End of August 2026 (or by arrangement) until end of February 2027 (6 months) Compensation: The internship is unpaid. However, a flat-rate internship compensation of CHF 280.-/month is paid out. Expenses for stays outside of Zürich (e.g., at the UN in Geneva) are fully reimbursed. The intern will work with the Managing Director as well as with a volunteer board member and will be supervised by them. Important!: The internship will be supervised via video meetings in the months of January / February 2027, as the Managing Director of Incomindios will be working from an assignment abroad. During this time, the intern, together with the communications intern, is responsible for the operation of the office in Zürich (telephone, mail) and the forwarding of all important information to the Managing Director. The internship includes the following tasks: The focus is on fundraising for the UN Fund of INCOMINDIOS, through which we enable indigenous delegates to participate in UN sessions. In addition, the intern will participate in the further development of our fundraising concept and support fundraising for the association as a whole. a) Fundraising for the UN Fund Through the UN Fund INCOMINDIOS finances the travel and accommodation of indigenous delegates at UN sessions, accredits them at the UN under INCOMINDIOS if necessary, and accompanies them in their human rights work. Furthermore, the UN Youth Grant is financed with the fund. The financing of this program for 2027 is the center of the internship: • Research of suitable foundations, funding institutions and funds • Collaboration in writing and submitting foundation applications • Collaboration in writing reportings and reports for donors b) Co-development of the fundraising concept INCOMINDIOS wants to further develop its fundraising strategy. The intern can support us with the following: • Research of "best practice" approaches (online research and/or in contact with other associations and fundraising offices) • Analysis of existing funding sources and identification of new potentials • Building and maintaining a structured overview of donors and applications c) Fundraising for the association In addition to the UN Fund, INCOMINDIOS finances itself through foundations, membership fees and donations. The following tasks arise: • Collaboration on donation appeals and in approaching members and individual donors • Fundraising with a focus on the association in general • Collaboration with the communications intern, e.g., on donation campaigns and mailings d) Collaboration in secretariat operations, the political work of Incomindios and participation in team meetings and events • Collaboration in the general administration that occurs in an NGO • Collaboration in the organization of events • Participation in meetings of the board and working groups • Opportunity to participate in UN sessions in Geneva • Holiday substitution for the Managing Director (telephone, email) Requirements: • Languages: German and English at a high level are required, Spanish skills are an advantage • Interest in fundraising and human rights topics; affinity for working in an intercultural context • Independent thinking and working  • Joy in writing texts, especially applications, as well as an affinity for numbers • Initial experience in the field of fundraising or foundation management is an advantage What we offer: • Flexible working hours, well compatible with studies • Insight into a small, committed human rights organization with an international orientation • Independent work with room for own ideas • The opportunity to participate in board meetings and UN sessions • A committed, open team of volunteers We look forward to receiving complete application dossiers as soon as possible to: Pascal Elsner, Managing Director Incomindios, jobs@incomindios.ch Zürich Internship Matura Published on 24.07.2026
