La protection des animaux de Zurich has been committed for more than 165 years with passion and expertise to animal welfare. We raise public awareness, rescue, care for and rehome animals in distress and we actively advocate for better legal conditions. As part of our strategic development, we are expanding our management and are looking for a strategic personality, operationally experienced, communicative and capable of working in a team.

Your mission ##

In this newly created key position, you will assume overall responsibility for the department of pets, the animal shelter and youth work. You will lead the specialist managers, develop the three areas strategically in collaboration with the management and the board of directors and ensure their successful operational implementation. At the same time, you will represent La protection des animaux de Zurich to the media, politics, authorities and partner organisations and actively contribute to the overall development of the organisation.

Your main tasks ##

• Participation in management and active collaboration in the management and development of La protection des animaux de Zurich, in collaboration with the association's board of directors.
• Strategic and operational management of the areas of pets, the animal shelter and youth work
• Personnel management, promotion and development of directly subordinate managers
• Development of specialist themes, campaigns and prevention work in the field of pets
• Strengthening the shelter in terms of animal welfare, infrastructure and placement
• Future-oriented design of the protection of young animals and development of outreach work
• Design and piloting of animal protection and awareness campaigns in collaboration with marketing & communication
• Representation of La protection des animaux de Zurich to the media as well as maintaining contacts with authorities, politics and partner organisations
• Responsibility for the budget and the economical use of resources in the subordinate areas.

Your profile ##

You have a higher education degree (HES/University) or an equivalent qualification as well as several years of experience in management, ideally in an NGO. You possess deep knowledge in the field of pets and animal protection, experience in project and campaign management as well as a good understanding of Swiss animal protection law. You are recognised for your communication skills, your media experience and your political sense, as well as for your developed organisational skills and your strategic thinking.

You communicate confidently in German and have good knowledge of English. Personally, you will convince with your integrity, your team spirit, your pleasure in leading a committed team and a strong identification with the values of La protection des animaux de Zurich. You adopt a participatory leadership style and encourage autonomy, trust and an open feedback culture.
