Research Manager (m/f/d)

Introductory text
To strengthen our team in the Grants Office of ETH Zürich, we are looking for a committed and proactive personality with sound experience in research funding and good knowledge of the Swiss funding landscape.

Project background
The Grants Office advises and supports researchers in the application and administration of competitive national and international research funds. In addition, it coordinates the ETH internal funding programs, manages the offices of the research and award commissions, and supports the university leadership on strategic issues regarding research and junior researcher support.

Tasks/Job description
In this versatile function, you will take on tasks at the interface of research funding, strategy, communication, and project management.

You advise and support researchers on questions regarding national and international research funding programs.
You design, coordinate, and organize events of the Grants Office, including information events, workshops, and networking formats.
You further develop existing reporting and data management solutions. In doing so, you examine how new technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence, can support the analysis, preparation, and use of data in the Grants Office, and contribute corresponding improvements.
You participate in the further development of services, processes, and funding instruments of the Grants Office.
Your profile
University degree, preferably with a doctorate, or comparable scientific qualification as well as several years of professional experience in the research environment.
Experience in research management or in research funding at a university, funding organization, or other research-related institution.
You know the Swiss research and funding landscape from an institutional perspective and are familiar with the central actors, funding instruments, and processes of competitive research funding.
Experience in advising researchers, in the development of advisory services, or in the management of funding programs is an advantage.
Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills.
Enjoyment in collaborating with researchers of various disciplines, funding organizations, and other partners in the university environment.
High level of initiative, service orientation, team spirit, and the ability to manage and process several projects and topics in parallel independently.
Very good German and English skills in spoken and written form.
High digital affinity and confident handling of information and data management systems.
Interest in the impact of new technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence, on research, research funding, and university organization.
