How you create value ##

You don't just want to keep systems running, but want to build the platform behind it yourself? In the Alpha team, you will take the lead in constructing new Kubernetes platforms - including the deployment pipeline. This is not a turnkey environment where you are assigned a part: here, something new is being created, and you are the one building it.

In parallel, you and your colleagues are responsible for the infrastructure of our Managed-Service clients from the banking and insurance sectors. Everything runs on-site in our own private Cloud - we do not rent from a hyperscaler, we build it ourselves. The team is small and the paths are short: if you have a good idea and can justify it, you implement it.

Your tasks in summary:

• You build our new Kubernetes platform, operate it, and extend it for new client projects.
• You plan and manage CI/CD deployments and advance automation within the team.
• You technically lead client and internal projects - from planning to implementation within deadlines.
• You manage our IdM and API Management infrastructure.
• Together with your colleagues, you take charge of the operation and development of our Linux, Unix, and FreeBSD servers as well as Linux-based databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, DB2). The existing environment will remain in place for a few more years - you must know it, but your focus is elsewhere.
• You provide second and third-level support for our clients and analyze complex incidents down to their root cause.
• You participate in the on-call service: a rotation of 5, meaning one week every five weeks. Night interventions are rare, and you are never alone.

What sets you apart ##

One thing is truly important to us, the rest is secondary: you have operated Kubernetes in production for several years. Not in a homelab and not "having already started a container", but having deployed and managed larger environments. The Linux background follows naturally.

In addition to this is an attitude that suits us: you organize yourself, like to make decisions, and dive into unknown systems without waiting for ready-made documentation.

What you should bring:

• Several years of experience in the productive operation of Kubernetes, ideally including Rancher.
• Solid Linux experience as a system engineer, preferably at an IT provider or a hoster.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation (Gitea, GitLab, GitLab Runner, Jenkins, Harbor, Ansible, etc.) as well as reliable scripting (Shell, Python).
• Basic understanding of networks (TCP/IP) - you don't need to configure firewalls, but to understand what is happening on the network.
• You are not a dogmatic linux user: with us, Windows is also present in the environment.
• You have the desire to develop - those who think they know everything get bored with us.
• Very good German, you understand Swiss German. Fluent English - you also need to argue with our partners, not just communicate.
• Residence nearby: for the on-call service, a maximum of one hour to be physically present in the data center.

What you do not need to bring: Solaris, AIX, or certifications. We evaluate your way of thinking during an interview based on a concrete case - not on paper.

Assets: experience in the banking or insurance sector, identity management (Authentik, FreeIPA).
