Modern Workplace Engineer

Die Zentrale Informatik is the IT competence center of the University of Zurich. The Managed Device Services team is responsible for the managed workplace for Windows, macOS, and mobile devices, based on Microsoft Intune. We design and automate this platform ourselves, instead of implementing customer projects. For this, we offer flexible working hours, home office, and the employment conditions of the Canton of Zurich.

Modern Workplace Engineer

Tasks

• Collaboration in the conception, planning, and implementation of Intune-based modern workplace topics for Windows and macOS in the Managed Device Services team
• Significant participation in the further development of the cloud-based endpoint management platform for Windows, macOS, and Windows 365 workplaces
• Administration of mobile devices (iPadOS and Android) via Intune, including enrollment, app provisioning, and compliance
• Further development and optimization of Intune configurations, policies, deployments, and security specifications for different workplace scenarios, including on the basis of the Open Intune Baseline and the CIS Benchmarks
• Operation and further development of the existing zero-touch deployment with Windows Autopilot and Apple Automated Device Enrollment, including enrollment, SSO, and compliance scenarios
• Application provisioning and lifecycle for Windows and macOS, predominantly automated via existing repositories and patch management tools, with own packaging where an application requires it
• Automation of client management processes via the Microsoft Graph API and n8n
• Creation of technical concepts, documentation, and decision bases as well as support for knowledge transfer towards support

Profile

• Completed higher IT education (HF, FH), a comparable qualification, or corresponding practical experience in endpoint management
• Several years of demonstrable, sound experience in endpoint management with Microsoft Intune for Windows, macOS, including Windows Autopilot, Apple Automated Device Enrollment, as well as MDM and MAM concepts
• Sound knowledge in software packaging, software distribution, and application lifecycle management for Windows and macOS
• Experience with hardened baselines (Open Intune Baseline, CIS), macOS configuration profiles (platform SSO, FileVault, Declarative Device Management), and Privileged Access Management on the client
• Very good knowledge of PowerShell and the Microsoft Graph API for automating client management processes, as well as good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
• Knowledge of Patch My PC, RoboPack, Winget, Munki, or Installomator, in workflow automation such as n8n, as well as experience with Entra Hybrid Join and co-management is an advantage
• Structured, independent, and quality-oriented way of working as well as strong communication skills
• Very good German skills as well as good English skills
