The IT Service Group (ISGINF) acts as the internal IT service provider for the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zürich, which has established itself as one of the world's leading academic institutions in the field of computer science through excellent research and teaching. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Linux System Engineer (80%-100%) starting immediately or by arrangement.

Our nine-member team manages the department's own IT infrastructure, which is specifically tailored to the requirements of the professorships and research groups. Together with the researchers, we continuously develop our systems and applications, relying on state-of-the-art technologies.

Tasks/Job Description
You will take on a varied activity with high personal responsibility and actively help shape innovative solutions. Your tasks and competencies include the conception, implementation, introduction, and support of systems and services based on Linux.

Classic system administration: installation of computers, configuration management, error analysis, and updates
Development, maintenance, and operation of IT services
Programming of tools, interfaces, and web applications with the help of AI
Operation of our Kubernetes clusters and provisioning of applications
Collaboration with researchers on projects and IT problems
Participation in our Ansible-based Linux infrastructure
Regular use at the service desk
Your first concrete task will be the takeover and reconstruction of our monitoring system based on Icinga.

Your Profile
Completed training in computer science or a related field
Sound knowledge in Linux system administration, in scripting languages, and programming
Practical experience in the conception and implementation of IT solutions
Independent and structured way of working, resilience, as well as high initiative
Teamwork skills and a communicative personality
Willingness for continuous further training
Good German and English skills for dealing with our customers
