What you will do

• Trade and price securities lending and borrowing, negotiating fees, transaction size, collateral, and duration with banks, prime brokers, and institutional investors
• Obtain borrows to cover short positions, trading strategies, and settlement requirements, including rare or "hard-to-borrow" securities
• Effectively allocate available securities to optimize stock utilization and identify opportunities to generate lending income or reduce borrowing costs
• Monitor daily profits and losses, positions, fee changes, and counterparty exposures
• Manage loan recalls, returns, and renewals; anticipate availability changes and mitigate settlement failures
• Evaluate collateral eligibility, haircuts, margin requirements, and the financing implications of transactions
• Monitor corporate actions, assessing the impact of dividends, coupons, rights issues, tender offers, and other events on lent securities and their economics
• Develop counterparty relationships, maintain strong access to securities supply and demand, negotiate competitive terms, and diversify borrowing sources
• Coordinate between teams, working with Treasury, Trading, Structuring, Risk, Legal, and Operations to execute and maintain transactions
• Identify opportunities to improve trading, operations, and controls via data, quantitative analysis, and automation, collaborating closely with Technology and Developers to implement practical solutions
• Establish effective working relationships with Operations
• Product Control, Risk, and other support functions to ensure smooth daily processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvement and reduction

of operational risk

• Maintain compliance, operating within trading mandates, credit limits, market rules, and contractual requirements

What you will need

• University degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
• 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience, with experience in Securities Lending, Securities Finance, Repo, or Derivatives Trading
• Demonstrated ability to trade actively and identify revenue opportunities while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk
• Deep understanding of settlement mechanisms for equities and fixed income securities, including settlement cycles, market conventions, settlement risk, and buy-in procedures
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret market trends, company fundamentals, corporate actions, and other factors that may impact trading opportunities and risk
• Experience working with counterparties and internal stakeholders, with strong communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills
• Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in financial markets, with an appetite for continuous learning
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment
• Familiarity with legal documentation: GMSLA, GMRA, ISDA
• Great attention to detail, with a structured and logical approach to risk, P&L, and problem-solving
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in one or more languages among SQL, Python, VBA, or Business Objects
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a high level of energy, dynamism, and self-motivation
• Collaborative team player, also comfortable taking responsibility and working independently in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment
