Learn more about UZH as an employer! ### Tasks • Nucleic acid extraction: Independent execution and optimization of DNA extractions from a wide variety of samples. • Library Preparation & quality control: Preparation of NGS libraries (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore) as well as quality assessment. • Management of sequencing workflows: Technical preparation, loading and monitoring of Next-Generation-Sequencing platforms as well as support in the establishment of semi-automated laboratory processes. • Microbiological & Molecular Biological project work: Active support of various research projects in the laboratory (including cultivation of bacteria, strain maintenance, sample archiving as well as classic PCR and gel electrophoresis). • Laboratory organization: Co-responsibility for chemical and consumable material management, the maintenance of laboratory equipment as well as documentation. Profile • Education: Successfully completed training as a Biomedical Analyst (HF/FH), Biology Laboratory Assistant (EFZ), Technical Assistant (BTA/MTA) or a degree (Bachelor) in a relevant related life science discipline. • Basic laboratory knowledge: Sound basic knowledge in everyday laboratory work as well as a confident and routine handling of basic laboratory equipment. • Experience with NGS & microbiology: Practical experience with nucleic acid isolation, NGS library preparation or sterile microbiological working techniques is a plus but not a mandatory requirement. • Way of working: Exact, reliable and structured way of working. You enjoy fine motor precision work and bring a high level of quality awareness. • Personality: You are flexible, like to work proactively in a dynamic academic environment and appreciate the variety between technical routine and project-based research support.
