The Department of Architecture at ETH Zürich is looking to strengthen its IT Services group with a committed individual who has an enthusiasm for Linux systems and modern IT infrastructures. Our seven-member team manages a high-performance IT infrastructure tailored to the needs of professorships and research groups. Together with the members of the department, we actively shape the digital future and continuously develop our systems and services using modern technologies.

Tasks/Job Description
Are Linux and IT your passion? Then become part of our team! With us, you have the opportunity to actively help shape our heterogeneous and hybrid infrastructure, introduce new technologies, and implement exciting IT projects.

We take care of the administration of macOS, Windows, and Linux clients for the department (JAMF, Baramundi).
We manage and develop the department's server landscape (Linux, Windows) with services such as web, virtualization, databases, AI solutions, storage, Nextcloud, and backup systems.
With our helpdesk, we support and advise our researchers, employees, and students on IT issues.
If required, we develop tools, interfaces, and web applications.
Collaboration with department groups and/or researchers or with the central IT of ETH on projects.
Your activities include supporting our Senior Linux Administrator with a focus on the operation, further development, and maintenance of the server landscape, as well as the automation and digitalization of processes. Thanks to your enthusiasm for IT technologies, you think in networks, contribute new ideas, and develop sustainable and practical solutions even beyond your own area of responsibility.

Your Profile
Completed IT training (EFZ) or a comparable qualification.
Sound knowledge in Linux system administration as well as experience with scripting languages such as Bash.
Knowledge of virtualization technologies (Proxmox, Docker) as well as storage solutions (Ceph, S3) and backup systems.
Knowledge in the development and operation of web applications.
Knowledge in network administration.
Practical experience in the conception, implementation, and further development of IT solutions.
Structured, independent, and careful way of working with a high awareness of quality.
Team-oriented personality with enjoyment of exchange in an international environment.
Commitment to training as well as support in the supervision of apprentices (IT).
Readiness to continuously further your education and access new technologies.
Very good German skills in speaking and writing as well as good English skills.
