ETH Zürich uses its wide-ranging competencies to contribute decisively to the further development of energy research and to promote the transfer of new findings into practice.

The Energy Science Center (ESC) of ETH Zürich is an interdisciplinary competence center for the promotion of energy research and teaching. It brings together over fifty professors from nine different departments and promotes cooperation between science, industry, and politics.

To support the Content Lead in building the ETH Plattform Energie, we are looking for a Research Associate starting immediately or by arrangement. This position is initially limited to one year.

Project background
The goal of the platform is to provide scientifically sound, technology-neutral, and understandable information on energy technologies and energy policy-relevant issues for politics, media, and the public.

The position contributes to accelerating the creation of scientific content for the website. The focus is on processing the current state of research as well as the understandable communication of complex scientific findings.

Tasks/Job description
Development of scientifically sound content on the energy technologies and topics defined in the project.
Conducting structured literature research based on high-quality scientific sources (especially peer-review publications, reviews, and meta-analyses).
Summarizing and classifying the current state of research, taking into account uncertainties and the quality of evidence.
Writing understandable, target-group-oriented texts according to the content and editorial standards of the platform.
Ensuring a consistent assessment of all technologies based on uniform criteria (e.g., potential, costs, environmental impacts, technological maturity, or system integration).
Close cooperation with the Content Lead as well as coordination with researchers and specialists for scientific quality assurance.
Maintenance and documentation of the sources used as well as support in updating existing content.
Your profile
Ideally a doctoral degree in engineering sciences, natural sciences, energy or environmental sciences, or a related field.
Experience in the analysis and synthesis of scientific literature.
Strong ability to prepare complex scientific content in an understandable and target-group-appropriate manner.
Broad interest in energy and climate topics as well as a good understanding of the energy system.
Good German and English skills, both written and spoken.
Independent, structured, and careful way of working as well as enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation.
