Supervisor / Caretaker - Provisional Detention 80 - 100 % - Career changers welcome # Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zürich and employs around 1'400 women and men from diverse professions. Primarily, JuWe is responsible for the execution of court sentences and the conduct of pre-trial detention. For the employees of JuWe, preventing recidivism and the successful social reintegration of convicted people is of particular importance. In Gefängnis Zürich West, we care for people in one of the most challenging phases of their lives: directly after arrest. As a Supervisor / Caretaker - Provisional Detention, you take responsibility for safety, order, and care, thereby making a valuable contribution to society.   Are you empathetic, at the same time consistent, and do you enjoy working in direct contact with people of various origins? Then we look forward to getting to know you. Provisional Detention - the first point of contact in Gefängnis Zürich West (GZW):   In GZW, we are in operation 365 days a year in shift operation. In the Provisional Detention department, you are the first contact person for detainees after arrest and ensure that safety, care, and structure are guaranteed from the start. • You accompany detainees in particularly stressful situations such as detention shock, suicidality, or after personal crises, and shape their daily routine within clearly defined structures • You monitor all security-relevant processes; from the admission of new persons via cell checks to the operation of technical systems • You perform body searches, secure evidence, check effects, and accompany detainees, including those with psychological, physical, or addiction-related burdens • In crisis situations, you react competently and responsibly and also independently take responsibility for several departments during the night shift • You work closely with the interprofessional care team and together develop sustainable solutions for care • Written documentation and reporting are as much a part of your everyday life as the communication of house rules and the enforcement of applicable regulations What you bring with you ### • You are at least 25 years old, have a completed apprenticeship (EFZ or Gesellenbrief), and have no entries in the criminal or debt collection register • You bring at least 3 years of general professional experience; further training as a Specialist in Corrections (Fachmann/-frau Justizvollzug) is an advantage. Career changers are welcome. • You have very good German language skills in speaking and writing; oral foreign language skills are a plus • You have MS-Office user knowledge and are confident in using digital tools • The activity requires shift work (incl. day, night, weekend, and on-call services) as well as a high degree of physical and mental resilience • You are communicative, capable of handling conflict, and resilient even in emotionally demanding situations.
