Network Development Engineer (a) (80 – 100%) RUAG is the technology partner of the army and, with around 3'000 employees at various locations, makes a decisive contribution to the security and sovereignty of Switzerland. The company develops, operates and maintains complex military systems for land and air and moves in a uniquely technologically exciting environment. As part of an exclusive mandate, we are supporting RUAG in the search for a technically skilled personality for the forward-looking project «Ersa IMFS». This involves the replacement of the existing Integrated Military Telecommunications System of the army. A state-of-the-art, IP-based communication platform is being built, which ensures the voice and data communication of the mobile and semi-mobile units of the army and replaces the existing system. Your challenge You work in an agile project organization according to SAFe with around 50 specialists from different technical areas. In doing so, you go both wide technically and deep professionally. You design networks and build them up, deal with the underlying protocols, develop technical concepts and actively participate in the further development of modern routing and communication solutions. Your main tasks can be divided as follows: Conception and network development (~ 40%) You analyze customer requirements and interfaces in cooperation with technical experts from Kommando Cyber You develop and design modern IP-based network architectures with a focus on unicast and multicast routing You are part of an agile development team and advise the software development team on network issues with your expertise You support the Product Owner in the creation of user stories and acceptance criteria in the field of routing and network Implementation of networks / software (~ 40%) You define interfaces and create specifications regarding dynamic routing and IP addressing You create prototypes primarily in virtualized network environments with Linux FRR Integration with peripheral systems incl. testing with end systems (~ 20%) You are responsible for the implementation of routing configurations for integration tests You perform integration tests, analyze error patterns and actively work on sustainable solutions You support the software development team and contribute to the definition, implementation and review of unit and system tests in the field of routing management Your qualities and talents Completed technical training in computer science, systems engineering, electrical engineering. Preferably with a higher degree At least 5 years of professional experience in system engineering / network engineering in the Linux environment with a focus on development, not operations Experience in the creation of technical concepts and documentation Analytical, solution-oriented and independent way of working English or German fluent, impeccable reputation Ideally experience in corresponding communities (e.g., FRR, SwiNOG) A CCNP certification or similar further training is welcome, but not a must This challenge offers you the opportunity to participate in a technologically unique and long-term strategic project.
