Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is responsible, as part of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zürich, for the execution of sentences and measures as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1'400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of convicted persons and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly created Medical Service main department ensures the basic medical-somatic care for incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions in the Canton of Zürich. As a central organizational unit, it guarantees harmonized and high-quality healthcare according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The main department operates as an outpatient medical institution and Spitex institution with the corresponding health police permit and ensures the billing of medical and nursing services according to the mandatory health insurance.
For medical care at our locations (exact location/s by arrangement), we are looking for a committed medical professional who ensures the location-specific care.

This is your field of activity ###

• You bear the responsibility for the implementation of medical specifications at the agreed location and guarantee the medical care of incarcerated persons according to the equivalence principle
• In your regular medical consultations, you diagnose and treat the incarcerated persons and provide initial medical care in urgent situations
• You participate in case discussions and work closely with the medical site management as well as representatives of other professional groups, whereby the distribution of tasks and interfaces are clearly defined
• You ensure the quality of medical care, promote compliance with medical standards and implement preventive measures to maintain the health of the incarcerated persons
• You prepare medical reports, record services and document treatments according to legal requirements

This is what you bring with you ###

• You have completed your medical studies and ideally have completed specialist training in General Internal Medicine. Additional experience in psychiatry, addiction medicine or emergency medicine is an advantage
• You bring at least three years of professional experience at a recognized training center in Switzerland
• You possess a verifiable professional practice permit as a doctor in the Canton of Zürich as well as an impeccable reputation. Additionally, you are willing to undertake on-call duty
• For this position, business-fluent German skills are required, knowledge of other languages is an advantage
• Good MS Office skills and willingness to familiarize yourself with new health information systems
• You have high social competence in dealing with the specific clientele as well as experience in interprofessional cooperation
