Job description:

For a long-term project, we are looking for a Senior DevOps / Observability Engineer with a strong understanding of architecture. The goal of the role is the elaboration, further development, and technical implementation of a product-oriented solution architecture for a central observability platform.

You ensure that a scalable, automated, and regulation-compliant observability solution is developed and integrated into a hybrid IT landscape. In doing so, you work at the interface between architecture, platform engineering, security, ITSM, and project management.

Your tasks include in particular:

• Collaboration on the product-oriented solution architecture with a focus on implementable and automatable designs
• Conception, standardization, and implementation of OpenTelemetry (OTEL), especially collector/gateway architectures and pipelines
• Construction and further development of the observability platform using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps
• Creation and further development of Terraform modules, configuration templates, and Helm Charts
• Integration of the platform into hybrid on-prem and Azure environments
• Consideration of network, security, IAM, and regulatory requirements
• Design and implementation of automated onboarding processes, self-service functions, and automatic provisioning
• Support of pilot onboardings, MVPs, as well as PoC/PoV activities
• Development of migration scenarios and target architecture mappings for the replacement of existing legacy solutions
• Integration with ITSM processes such as Incident/Event Management and CMDB
• Collaboration with platform, application, security, risk/compliance, and ITSM teams
• Support during architecture reviews and Architecture Gates
• Coaching internal DevOps teams as well as creation of technical operational and security documentation

About the customer:

Our customer is an established Swiss financial institution with a highly regulated and complex IT landscape. As part of a strategic transformation program, a central observability platform for hybrid on-prem and cloud environments is being constructed and further developed.

Requirements:

• 5–7 years of experience as a Solution Architect or in a comparable technical architecture role for observability platforms
• Experience in regulated environments, ideally banking or insurance
• Demonstrable practical experience with at least one modern observability stack in production environments
• Very good practical knowledge of OpenTelemetry, especially collector/gateway architectures, configuration, operation, and scaling
• Experience in the design and operation of hybrid platforms with on-prem and Microsoft Azure
• Very good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and GitOps
• Experience with Kubernetes-based platforms
• Experience with network, security, and IAM/RBAC concepts
• Experience with ITSM integrations, for example Incident/Event Management and CMDB
• Knowledge of regulatory and security requirements in the financial environment, especially FINMA, BYOK, and Data Residency
• Ability to translate technical architecture concepts into production-ready and automatable solutions
• German C1

Nice to have

• Experience with AKS and OpenShift
• Very good knowledge of Terraform and Helm
• Experience with self-service onboarding and automated provisioning of observability components
• Experience with legacy migrations in the observability environment
• Experience with Agile / SAFe
• Good knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Git-based development and operational processes
