With around 1400 employees, Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is the largest office within the Direktion der Justiz und des Innern and is responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as well as for the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of convicted people and are effectively and progressively committed to a safe and just society.

The Untersuchungsgefängnisse Zürich (UGZ) are one of eight main departments of JuWe. They comprise seven facilities with around 735 prison places and approximately 500 employees. They are responsible for provisional arrest, investigative and security detention, as well as the early execution of sentences and measures until transfer to an execution facility. In doing so, they fulfill a central function within the Zurich justice system from the very beginning.

As part of the UGZ, the Gefängnis Zürich West is located in the Polizei- und Justizzentrum Zürich and has 241 detention places. It specializes in provisional arrest and investigative detention and performs a key function in the admission and initial care of detained persons.

As of 1. November 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for a committed and responsible personality to strengthen our Technical Services for the department "Zentrale Dienste".

Your field of activity ###

• You carry out inspections, maintenance, and repairs and resolve technical malfunctions according to the defined processes
• You plan and undertake recurring maintenance work as well as annual maintenance
• Together with the responsible areas, you ensure structural and technical safety as well as reliable operation
• For internal projects, renovations, and optimizations, you take over technical sub-tasks and - depending on experience - the management of sub-projects
• You coordinate and accompany external specialists and service companies and coordinate closely with internal departments
• You create and maintain technical documentation and reports
• With your expertise and your ideas, you contribute to the continuous improvement of our technical infrastructure and our processes

What you bring with you ###

• You have a completed basic technical training (EFZ), e.g., as an Automatiker, Elektroinstallateur, Elektromechaniker, or Mechaniker with electrical/IT experience. A comparable technical training is also suitable for us
• You bring a broad technical understanding and practical experience in maintenance. Knowledge in electrical engineering, mechanics, and/or technical IT systems is an advantage
• You think analytically and in networks and approach tasks independently, structurally, and solution-oriented
• You have good IT user knowledge and enjoy working with technical systems
• You can communicate well orally and in writing in German
• You are well organized, communicate clearly, and enjoy working with different internal and external contact persons
• You are prepared to be deployed outside of regular working hours if necessary. Furthermore, you have an impeccable record and are at least 25 years old
