Pre-intern Social Work (80%) ##

Period: 6-7 months (or longer)

Who are we ###

Since 1936, Winterhilfe Zürich has been committed to the field of poverty reduction in the Canton of Zürich and is one of 27 cantonal organizations of Winterhilfe Schweiz. We provide punctual support payments for working-poor people whose income is too tight to cover extraordinary bills, such as dentist, glasses or other major health costs or urgently needed purchases, such as a new bed, especially also for the ever-growing children. In addition to financing existential needs, Winterhilfe Zürich uses its network and expertise for short telephone consultations and refers its clients to other responsible aid organizations and state institutions. Winterhilfe works subsidiarily. This means: support is only provided if neither the Confederation, the Canton, nor the Municipality or other organizations are obliged to do so.

• Support in acquiring skills for social work practice (or a related environment)
• Central workplace at Limmatplatz Zürich - 5 minutes from the main station.

Tasks ###

• Providing telephone information regarding the offers of Winterhilfe Zürich
• Recording requests for support
• Independent processing of simplified requests
• Personal contact with applicants (telephone and door)
• Completing administrative tasks
• Participation in the weekly technical exchange of questions
• Receiving clothing donations
• Networking with other aid organizations, social services and partners of Winterhilfe Zürich

Profile ###

• You are planning a degree in the field of "Social Work" and require a pre-internship for this.
• We prefer persons with an educational qualification at secondary level II (EFZ),

ideally commercial apprenticeship with customer contact.

• Good PC/Office skills
• Flair for dealing with people in difficult life situations.
• Foreign language skills are an advantage.
