Laboratory Technician in the High Voltage Laboratory (m/f/d)

Introductory text
The Professorship for High Voltage Engineering offers an interesting and varied working environment in one of the world's leading research groups. Our group is a dynamic and very international working group at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering of ETH Zürich. The research focus of our group lies in the area of environmentally friendly components of the electrical energy supply and thus supports industry and grid operators in the energy transition. The position is closely integrated into the various research projects of the group and you will support the researchers in the design, construction, and commissioning of experimental facilities.

Tasks/Job Description
Design and layout of experimental setups in close cooperation with the other technical staff and the researchers. Independent construction and assembly of the same.
Support in the assembly and disassembly as well as the performance of experiments in the high voltage laboratory.
Performance of various maintenance tasks on the test facilities of the high voltage laboratory and the specialist group under the guidance of the laboratory manager.
Your Profile
You have completed an apprenticeship as an electrical installer, electronics technician, designer, physics laboratory technician, or similar
Professional experience is an advantage but not mandatory
You have experience in some of the following areas and a strong interest in learning the others:

Electrical or electrotechnical basics in theory and practice
PCB Design, assembly, and commissioning of electronic circuits
CAD (e.g., Solidworks)
Drawing circuit diagrams (e.g., with E-plan) and wiring in control cabinets
Programming / automation (e.g., PLC or Python)
Polymechanic skills (manual manufacturing and assembly)
Very good German and English skills in speaking and writing
In addition, we expect a high degree of social competence as well as the ability to adjust flexibly to different personalities, working methods, and situations, independent thinking, critical mindset and questioning/improving solutions, as well as practical/manual skills in a predominantly experimental environment.
