Social Worker in Social Counseling for Families (80%) ##

The Counseling Department supports families with low incomes in psychosocial and financial matters and offers telephone short-term counseling, debt counseling, social counseling for families, as well as mobile social counseling.

We are looking for a social worker to join our social counseling team for families as of 15 November 2026 or by arrangement due to retirement.

Your Tasks

As part of the social counseling for families, you will make a valuable contribution to supporting families affected by poverty in the Canton of Zürich. Your tasks are versatile and practical:

• Counseling families at the poverty line living in the Canton of Zürich
• Supporting and accompanying families in securing their livelihoods, particularly in the areas of finance, housing, education, and daily life management, as well as promoting sustainable perspectives within the framework of independent dossier management
• Telephone and personal short-term counseling for people seeking help
• Taking on coordinating tasks within the social counseling team
• Participating in the media and public relations work of Caritas Zürich, e.g., through technical contributions, case studies, or engagement at events

You enjoy counseling people in challenging life situations. You also recognize the prerequisites for sustainable change even in small steps. Complex correlations do not unsettle you; on the contrary: you encounter them with serenity and full curiosity. The resources, strengths, and independence of those seeking advice are your focus. You encounter them with appreciation and respect.

In addition, you bring the following:

• Completed degree in Social Work with several years of counseling experience
• Competence and enjoyment in counseling within an intercultural context
• Knowledge of the Swiss social system
• Experience with the allocation of financial support within the framework of counseling settings is an advantage
• Expedient, independent, and pragmatic way of working with a hint of humor
• Enjoyment of working in a small team
