Then we have the perfect tasks for you! We are looking for a creative and committed person who translates seismological content into understandable illustrations and animations. Among other things, you will develop illustrations and animations that explain the functionality of earthquake early warnings. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of communication specialists, seismologists, social scientists, and IT professionals. The position is located at the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) at ETH Zürich, the federal agency for earthquakes. You have the opportunity to combine design expertise with scientific questions and have the results flow directly into real applications. The job starts on 1 September 2026 or by agreement. The employment is limited to one year. Afterwards, there is the possibility of an extension of up to five years. Project background ## The SED is significantly involved in the development of an earthquake early warning app that is already being used in several countries. With a view to introduction in Switzerland and other European countries, we are developing communication materials that convey the functionality and benefits of earthquake early warning in an understandable way. You will develop illustrations and animations for this purpose in an iterative, user-centered process and contribute to ensuring that the visual language is culturally understandable and effective.
