The HIL building on the Hönggerberg campus is becoming a real-world laboratory. The building, which requires renovation, is being converted and expanded. In the coming years, professorships from the departments of Architecture (D-ARCH) as well as Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG) will research and plan the renovation of the HIL building in the sense of circular construction. The goal is to further develop sustainable design and construction within existing buildings and to apply it exemplarily to a real planning and construction project. For the planning team of the Living Lab HIL, we are looking for an experienced female or male architect who will independently plan, coordinate, and implement our complex and demanding sub-projects - from the renovation of the existing stock to the vertical extension of the HIL building to the development of innovative makerspaces. You will accompany the projects through all phases and cover the entire spectrum from planning to on-site realization. Job Description ## In this project-related role, your primary tasks and responsibilities will be: • Sub-project management: Independent leadership, coordination, and implementation of specific sub-projects (e.g., renovation during ongoing operations, innovative vertical extension). • SIA Phases 1-5: Complete processing and management of the projects across all SIA service phases, from the preliminary study to successful execution and commissioning. • Prototypical implementation: Detail and execution planning of highly innovative, circular, and prototypical construction designs in direct cooperation with the participating professorships. • Project controlling: Strict responsibility for compliance with deadlines, quality, and costs within the budgets and processes of ETH Real Estate. • Interface management: Close exchange and coordination with contractors, authorities, specialist planners, as well as representatives from teaching and research. • The position is initially limited to a maximum of five years, starting with a one-year contract with options for extension. Profile ## To ideally meet the requirements of this demanding position, you bring the following profile: • Education: Completed degree in architecture (ETH/FH or equivalent). • Professional experience: Solid, multi-year experience in execution planning and project coordination in Switzerland. Verifiable experience across all SIA phases is mandatory. • Technical knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Swiss building regulations, standards (SIA), and permit procedures, ideally with experience in construction within existing buildings. • CAD skills: Very good, practice-proven knowledge of 3D-CAD, preferably Rhino and VisualArq or comparable BIM systems. • Personality: Structured, independent way of working, strong sense of responsibility, flexibility, and enjoyment of unconventional, innovative construction solutions. • Languages: Very good German skills as well as good English skills.
